We are constantly brainstorming new ways to improve student experience in the Union by making leverage the latest technologies.

Develop

Nearly all projects are developed in-house by our team of students providing work experience and education of new and exciting technologies.

Operations

Our IT infrastructure is vital to the Union's operation and we have recently invested capital to ensure we have the latest equipment to provide the best support to students and clubs.

Note: All jobs listed on this page are non-work study and may be worked in addition to a current work-study assignment.

What you'll do

  • Develop features/applications to improve the services of the Rensselaer Union
  • Work with front-end technologies (HTML/JS/CSS) and backend technologies (Python/PHP/SQL).
  • Collaborate with Executive Board, Union Administration Office staff, and club representatives to learn needs to be turned in features

What we're looking for

  • A passion to develop the best solutions for the problem. Careful attention to detail is important to us.
  • Knowledge of computer science principles (data structures and algorithms are vital)
  • Experience with Javascript (CoffeScript), jQuery, CSS (LESS), and HTML (responsiveness is a plus)
  • Experience with Python and/or PHP for web development
  • A background in SQL (any DBMS) is a plus
  • Strong communications skills and teamwork experience
  • At least 10-hour time commitment per week

  • Manage Union technological Infrastructure and provide end user support
  • Work with both desktop and server-class hardware and software
  • Collaborate with Executive Board, Union Administration Office staff, and club representatives to identify ways to improve the Union infrastructure.

What we're looking for

  • A passion to develop the best solutions for the problem. Careful attention to detail is important to us.
  • Knowledge of Windows family of operating system
  • Experience with VMWare, Linux, web server technologies, and/or Windows Server
  • Experience with Python and/or other scripting languages
  • A background in SQL (any DBMS) is a plus
  • Strong communications skills and teamwork experience
  • At least 10-hour time commitment per week
